The first official step towards banning any and all LGBTQ+ art and literature has been taken.

This is what hypersexualizing queer topics was always leading towards. Expect this to be the signal flare that gets some state legislature barreling forward to enact this exact measure, solely so the bill can be struck down, challenged legally, then taken all the way to SCOTUS.

...

Repeating what I said on Twitter: This is a good time to remind people that just being LGBTQ in this moment in time can be considered an outright radical act, so anything less than going all-in on the life you want to lead is fucking pointless.

Put another way, if you're putting actual time and energy into respectability shit right now, do everyone *and* yourself a huge favor, and stop wasting your time.

You can't fucking negotiate with Christian Terrorists.

I see no reason not to honor this humble request.

So in short, our battery for our car died and I need extra funds to make it through this weekend. So commissions are on sale. $9 for every 1k words. I'll end this on Monday, November 28th.

My TOS is here. Please read it carefully.

why are pose references for women like That

men are allowed to just stand there but women must look sexy TM at all costs

shitty artistic rendition of the issue

allow me to recommend AdorkaStock

these guys have a crapton of pose references and a lot are for free, under Sketch you can even cycle random ones for practice and for warmups, and their photos include stuff like this

and like this

oh. and also

actually more than one body type like a boss

ok i need to stop myself before i paste their entire stock collection in here but still for some of your pose ref needs

Oh yeah, they're great!

Lady in top two photos is part of internet history, we’ve been studying her poses for years. I used her crawling down the stairs in my first big project. What a legend.

People make fun of 9/11 now not because 3000 people dying in a terrorist attack is funny, but because the utter fucking self-righteousness and sentimentality with which Americans treat it and have used it endlessly to justify mass violence and misery on a scale that dwarfs 9/11 ever since makes its anniversary worthy of derision.

i have a deep respect for scotland because i was at an ireland vs scotland football match and their chant was “we hate england more than you”

one time at a germany vs scotland game some german fans started the “stand up if you hate england” chant and the whole stadium stood up

WHAT DID WE DO?!

When old people in England complain about all of the immigrants, I always reply:

“Well then perhaps England shouldn’t have run around the planet sticking its dick in every bloody country. Inviting them over for tea is the least England can do.”

“The English have a reputation for invading lots of different countries and then being really annoyed when those people follow them home” - Tommy Tiernan

The USA is doing that rn and is mad at immigrants so some things never change

kaldicuct

When did America invade Mexico? Just wondering.

ohnoagremlin

we literally stole texas from mexico bud

Never Forget the Reign of Terror waged against Muslims (and by extension, Sikhs profiled as being Muslim) in the nearly two decades following 9/11.

Had a Pakistani family living in my small town. After 9/11 they got chased out of town. I was 8. That’s when I learn what racism was.

How to write fic for Black characters: a guide for non-Black fans

  1. Don’t characterize a Black character as sassy or thuggish, especially when the character in question is can be described in literally ten thousand other ways..
  2. Don’t describe Black characters as chocolate, coffee, or any sort of food item.
  3. Don’t highlight the race of Black characters (ie, “the dark man” or “the brown woman”) if you don’t highlight the race of white characters.
  4. Think very carefully about that antebellum slavery or Jim Crow AU fic as a backdrop for your romance.
  5. If you’re not fluent with AAVE, don’t use it to try to look cool or edgy. You look corny as hell.
  6. Don’t use Black characters as a prop for the non-Black characters you’re actually interested in.
  7. Keep “unpopular opinions” about racism, Black Lives Matter, and other issues pertinent to Black folks out the mouths of Black characters. We know what the fuck you’re doing with that and need to stop.
  8. Don’t assume a Black character likes or hates a certain food, music, or piece of pop culture.
  9. You can make a Black character’s race pertinent without doing it like this.
  10. Be extremely careful about insinuating that one or more of a Black character’s physical features are dirty, unclean, or ugly.

Feel free to add more.

Adding more…

  1. Be wary of making Black characters seem animalistic, uncivilized, or subhuman in comparison to white characters. Watch out for: comparing us to monkeys, gorillas, chimpanzees, apes, and other animals.
  2. Words like Negroid, colored/colured, Negro, and the n-word do not belong in the mouths of contemporary characters you want to portray as sympathetic.
  3. Not all Black people are African American.
  4. Africa is not a country but the second-largest continent on earth with some 54 different countries with thousands of ethnic groups and 1,500 to 3,000 languages and dialects.
  5. Resist the urge to make a Black character seem uneducated and ignorant compared to white characters.
  6. Capitalizing Black shows that you recognize that the word unifying people of African descent, particularly the diaspora, should be described using a proper noun.
  7. Please, say “Black people,” not “blacks.”
  8. Give Black characters the same psychological and moral complexity as white men are given by default.
  9. Make sure that you don’t write a Black character as happily subservient to a white character.
  10. Understand and show that you understand that Black characters don’t exist to be the caretakers of white characters.

And more…

  1. Do your own homework instead of expecting, asking, or demanding Black fans to do it.
  2. Before approaching that Black person you admire so much for being so articulate about race issues (this is sarcasm) to beta read your work: 1) make sure it’s something they’ve expressed interest in doing, and 2) you offer something in return for their time and expertise.
  3. Be prepared for fans to have issues with what you came up with and open to suggestions.
  4. Having only one Black character in a story that takes place in a huge city, country, or galaxy looks weird. Really, really weird. Scary weird.
  5. Don’t use a Black character’s death to motivate a white character.
  6. Portray Black characters with complex and multifaceted identities. We are more than just Black. We are also women, LGBT, Jewish, disabled, neurodivergent, immigrants, etc.
  7. There is a huge chasm between hypersexual and desexualized.
  8. Remember: what’s progressive for a white character is not necessarily progressive for a Black one.

These are some helpful pointers for writing any kind of fiction involving Black characters.

Additionally:

If all or most of your Black characters have light hair or eye colors, even in a fantasy setting, it may be time to ask yourself why that is.

GUYS I THINK IM THE ONLY PERSON WHOSE POINTED TIHS OUT SO FAR BUT

HI. HI. IM JUST SAYING. HI. ARE THEY SIBLINGS. IM NOT REACHING THAT FAR TO SAY THEY'RE THE SAME PERSON BUT THEY COULD BE SIBLINGS.

As much as I love this idea and honestly want it to be true because that would be such a good call back and a cool addition to Shiver’s character, I don’t think they’re related since Dedf1sh’s blue hair probably came from her getting sanitized.

Plus the fingertips might just be a beauty trend since Frye’s fingers have the same gradient effect, only hers are blue while Shiver’s are red

!!!IMPORTANT FOR BLACK US VOTERS!!!

I saw this on Facebook and went to check my registration status, sure it was fine because I voted recently, but I put in the info and it said I’m not registered

PLEASE, especially if you’re a Black voter, check your registration status at vote.org

Know your status

Does your last name sound anything like Lopez, Martinez, or Rodriguez? Mine does. When I saw this post I checked my voter registration status online with my state. Despite registering just three months ago, I was no longer registered to vote, and I did not receive my ballot. If you live in a mail-in voting state and you didn’t get your ballot, contact your county election official/county clerk for a replacement.

Make sure you check with your state’s voting site as well. I just had the shit scared out of me because that website said I was registered, but when I checked my state’s site (and made sure I had the right county selected) it said I was registered.

It’s worth checking your state’s site every few months anyway (especially when any election is coming up).

Texas is definitely purging voters. They’re also making it harder to re-register if they purged you. I hate that this is true, but POC will need to check and check frequently to stay registered in Texas.

College students, too. In the 2014 election, I had to vote in San Marcos, and I can’t tell you how many Texas State students were turned away because they didn’t cross all the t’s and dot all the i’s on getting their registration transferred and current.

i use a site called TurboVote run by a nonprofit that sends me reminders based on where im registered to vote before every election. it sends me an email to remind me to check my registration, to apply for absentee ballots, etc. it’s helpful so that you can check if you’ve been purged regularly (and participate in the local races that never get any publicity); https://turbovote.org/

Please register and check with your town/city hall often to make sure you are still registered. Please vote.

THIS IS A REMINDER

You have about two months to make sure you’re registered to vote by mail in the US.

Considerably less than two months, now. If you haven’t checked, check TODAY.

You can check your current registration status at Headcount.org.

Augustine and Winnie have always been together their whole childhood. Ever since elementary school up until now, when they have graduated high school. They were inseparable.

But now that Winnie got accepted to his university, he is soon leaving town. The two decide to spend their last day together before his move.

Not long after they hopped into Winnie’s car, they suddenly find themselves trapped in a freezing blizzard.

… It’s currently July.

Cold Front is a short 2.5D RPG Maker horror/narrative-driven game with visual novel/adventure elements following the story of two childhood friends, Augustine and Winnie, suddenly being trapped in a freezing blizzard even though it’s the summer. The two have to work together to escape the chilling dangers they are suddenly forced into.

- 45 minutes ~ 1 hour of gameplay

- 2 endings (+ different dialogue choices/interactions)

This was a game made for a Korean RPG Maker game jam/contest where you were challenged to make a full game under a month!

This is the second game I ever developed and in just 25 days at that so the mechanics, puzzles and storytelling might feel a little short/less-dynamic, but I am looking to improve in the future!

BIDEN IS TRYING TO AMEND TITLE IX TO PROTECT TRANS ATHLETES.

This is currently in its open comment phase and it’s getting bombed by TERFs, surprise surprise.

If you live in the US, you can fight back by leaving your own comment HERE. Don’t get cute or make threats, just explain why you think we should protect trans kids. And for fuck’s sake if you’re not actually in the US don’t get the idea you’ll just use a fake address. This is a government form, doing so can get the entire amendment thrown out.

Spread the word!!!

tarasaurus98-deactivated2022110

This isn't just a few crazy Terfs responding to this, it's a heavily coordinated and directed response from right wing organizations with large groups of followers who are all responding with the same copy and pasted message.

If we have any hope of fighting to protect title IX we need everyone to contribute to this! We need to stop these people from dismantling every anti-discrimination law in the country, because they won't stop unless we make them.

Also, TO BE CLEAR about how regulations like this work: they LEGALLY NEED to have significant evidence in favor of it in order for it to pass notice & comment. NOT doing that – ignoring huge amounts of data to the contrary, or creating the regulation without doing notice & comment at all – is considered "arbitrary and capricious" and can get it thrown out (something that happened A LOT in the Trump administration BECAUSE they didn't bother to do this shit properly).

THEY ARE DOING IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. WE ALSO NEED TO DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME BY SUPPORTING IT.
